Remember how Gabrielle Giffords ran her campaign for Congress as a moderate? Well lets recap just how moderate she has actually been since taking office.
She took money in her campaign from ultra-liberal members of Congress, she voted for Nancy Pelosi - leftist extraordinaire for Speaker, she voted for HR 800 and killed workers voting rights, she voted for HR 1591 to cut off funding for our troops in Iraq after she said she wouldn’t…
AND now, she is proving herself as fiscally responsible. Yesterday the 29th day of March, Gabby got in line behind Nancy Pelosi and voted for one of the largest tax hikes in history, which totals $39,200,000,000 over the next 5 years. That sum is going to cost Arizonan’s an additional $2,701 each year in taxes. But as stated before, Ms. Giffords is worried more about pleasing the liberally liberal than working for her own constituents.
But even the threat of angering her own district and state didn’t deter her from voting for the bill as it did with some of her freshman Democratic colleagues from conservative districts:
To balance the budget, the proposal would permit President Bush’s signature tax cuts to expire on schedule in 2010, prompting Republicans to accuse the new congressional majority of plotting a massive tax increase. Those charges helped persuade a dozen Democrats, including several freshmen from conservative districts, to reject the blueprint, which was approved on a vote of 216 to 210.
Gabby just has her own agenda now, and she’s not going to let the minor detail of serving those who vote for her get in the way.
